It’s that wonderful time of the year, when the sun is shining but there’s a slight chill in the air. That means perfect growing conditions for Queensland luscious strawberries.
Jennifer Rowling, Industry Development Officer for Qld Strawberry growers says this season’s strawberry crop is looking like a bumper harvest! That means plentiful, high quality strawberries for everyone. Now all you have to decide is how quickly you can get to the shops and grab yourself a few punnets.
And as if the sheer joy of eating the juicy little balls of red lusciousness wasn’t enough – did you know that strawberries are a good source of Vitamin C? This essential nutrient is important for normal growth and development, immunity and healthy skin. And most importantly, our bodies cannot manufacture or store Vitamin C and so it is really important to have a regular supply in your daily foods.
Growing strawberries is a passion for the whole Coco family at their magnificent farm at Elimbah in the Glass House Mountains area of the Sunshine Coast. This truly is strawberry country with over 30 farms just in this area all growing delicious, rich red berries for you and your family to enjoy across winter every year. Luigi Coco, President of the Queensland Strawberry Growers Association, is dedicated to working with the whole industry to continually improve fruit quality, increase fruit availability and ensure that you get the best possible strawberry in every bite.
